Race For Gold Meet

Race for Gold is a special opportunity for swimmers who are within five seconds of a Contra Costa County qualifying time to make one final push toward achieving their County Championship goal.

Swim Entries + Cost

Team Entries are due by Tuesday, July 14 by 6:00 PM. Please email all entries to [email protected].

Swimmers must be within 5 seconds of the Gold/County time standard for their age-group in each even they wish to enter. A copy of qualifying time standards must be provided.
No Times will NOT be accepted.
Each swimmer may choose up to 3 individual events to swim.

Entry Fee:

The entry fee is $30 per swimmer. Teams may pay for their swimmer(s) through Zeffy or pay the day of the meet. Checks should be made payable to Hercules Piranhas Swim Team.

Walk-on entries:

Walk-on entries will be accepted on Sunday, July 19, 2026, by 8:00 AM. Walk-on swimmers must provide proof that they are within 5 seconds of the qualifying time standards for the event(s) they wish to swim.

These swimmers will not be in the meet program and will need to ask the timers to write in their name. If the swimmer was not previously entered, they must pay a $40 entry fee at the pool entrance prior to swimming.

Warm Ups

The competition pool will be open for general warm-ups from 7:45 AM - 8:45 AM.

We will follow an open warm-up format. Designated diving lanes for starts will be open for one-way swimming after 8:00AM.

The meet begins at 9:00 AM.

Rules

Fly over starts will be used, except for backstroke events.
Only (1) swimmer at a time allowed at the starting block.
All events will swim fastest to slowest.
All events are timed finals.
All events will be swam as mixed gender and mixed age-groups.
Events will be timed using touchpads, a Colorado timing system with 3 plungers, and 2 stopwatches per lane.
USA Swimming Rules for starts, turns, finishes, and strokes will be observed.
Please be aware that depending on your swimmer's selected events and the meet schedule, there may be as little as 5-7 minutes between events. We encourage families and swimmers to plan accordingly and be prepared for a quick turnaround, including staying hydrated and ready to report for the next event.

Parking

Each team will have two (2) reserved parking spaces for coaches only at the Hercules Teen Center (bottom of the hill). There is a parking lot at the top of the driveway in which individuals may park. Vehicles must be parked in designated parking spots.

There is an additional parking lot across the street at Hercules Middle School, or street parking on Redwood Road and Falcon Way. Please respect all fire lanes and “no parking” zones. Vehicles that are illegally parked are subject to ticketing and/or being towed at the owner’s expense.
